What: Chocolate and wine-pairing event
Where: Blueprint Café on Butler’s Wharf
When: Tuesday 31 January
The vibe: An intimate and casual affair with smiley faces all round (who wouldn’t be smiling when chocolate and wine are involved?). The evening was a lovely collaboration, initiated by Blueprint Café between Divine Chocolate’s master chocolatier, David Greenwood-Haigh, and Le Pont de la Tour’s sommelier Nicolas Clerc.
What they sampled: Divine’s white chocolate paired with a sweet Tokaji wine from Hungary; milk chocolate paired with a table wine from France’s Loire Valley; and 70 per cent dark chocolate with a port-like dessert wine from Roussillon, France.
A sweet surprise: An 85 per cent indulgent dark chocolate pot, created by head chef Barry Macmillan, topped off the evening and was pleasantly paired with a sweet red wine from Greece. Check out the recipe for Barry’s chocolate pots.
Goodies to take home: As the event wrapped up, David invited each guest to take home two blocks of Divine chocolate bars.
