What: Guests gathered for a private view of The Way We Live Now, an exhibition at London’s Design Museum exploring Sir Terence Conran’s career and his impact on contemporary life in Britain.
When: Wednesday 16 November 2011
Why: A chance to be transported to the pages of a 1960s Habitat catalogue as well as a glimpse into Conran’s world, both private and public. (And, in The Artful Diner’s case, a surprise encounter with Sir Terence who was sitting in his recreated study – view a photo in the gallery below.)
Who: Design luminaries including, evidently, Sir Terence Conran, the director of the Design Museum, Deyan Sudjic, and architect Lord Rogers. Miranda Richardson also made an appearance, as did teams from The Conran Studio [see picture above], the Design Council and Marks & Spencer, which is supporting the exhibition.
What they were drinking: Vina Ventisquero Classico Merlot, 2010 from Chile and Bergerie Bastide Blanc from Languedoc-Roussillon, France.
What they were eating: The Blueprint Café supplied brightly coloured spinach, pumpkin, broad bean, goat’s curd and tapenade crostini, mini cocktail chorizo and baked salsify with Parmesan.
Further information:
The Way We Live Now runs at the Design Museum from 16 November 2011 to 4 March 2012.
Blueprint Café has tied up with the Design Museum to offer a two-course set lunch with a glass of Kir Royale and ticket to the exhibition for £26 per person (standard admission is £10 for adults).
